What's the Point?

Hello. Welcome to Illumination! This is my first attempt at a blog and I'm not exactly sure how to do it, so please be patient with me. Illumination will be a place for me to talk about my opinions on human adornment. It's history, what I like and don't like about it conceptually, and examples, of course. It will also be a format for me to discuss my growth as a designer, my inspiration as an artist, and how my work in craft relates to my artistic endeavors. With that being said, I guess, it will also indirectly be an ongoing discussion about my personal style. I absolutely love to answer questions so hopefully, I can incorporate Q and A. An occasional poll, survey, link or whatnot is bound to pop up, I'm sure.

In the meantime, I'll get started...

Today, I introduced my first product line in my Etsy shop. I named the line, Solstice. Naturally, the name relates to the day that it was released, but it also relates to the overriding them of each piece. Even though technically, the solstice is a celestial event, to me, it is a very earthly and natural event as well. It was the basis of some of the oldest celebration traditions on earth. This year, the solstice marks a new beginning for me and my work. A time of reflection on things with an earthly and ethereal beauty. The grey skies of winter, the warmth of fire, the majesty of the quiet, leafless forest and the mysterious nighttime.
