What Defines My Style: Part 3, A Touch of Femininity

My work has a touch of femininity.

Primitive Elegance Necklace by bdavissynergy

I interpret feminine style as clothing and accessories that have are simple and sophisticated, simultaneously. I define feminine specifically as something delicate by nature, soft, curvaceous and romantic.

My feminine color palette includes pastels and neutrals, mainily. But many darker colors could be combined with more neutral tones and be extremely feminine.

This week I'm doing something a little different by putting together two complete looks that appeal to me within the stated theme.
All of the items can be found on Etsy and

I will include links and seller info so that you can access them easily. I hope that you find if helpful.

The first look begins with the Maiden Winter Dress in a rich, chocolate brown. I would finish the look with my own Primitive Elegance Necklace, a pair of vintage brown suede shoes from AmericanDuchess, and a pair of earrings by LAccent Nou.

I love the clean lines of the dress. The softness and complexities of jewelry picks contrast well with it. The shoes add a vintage sophistication and feminine edge to the outfit.

Hanging up my Femininity a treasury by LAccentNou

This week, I am featuring a recent treasury by an amazing artisian in my circle on Etsy. You might have noticed that she also made the beautiful earrings featured in my first look. She is also a gifted treasury curator and by a stroke of coincidence made one that perfectly illustrates this week's topic.

Footnote to What Defines My Style, Part 2: Romance

Here are a couple of treasuries that I thought would go well with my lastest blog.
Enjoy!

What Defines My Style: Part 2, Romance

All of my work is romantic.

My personal definition of romantic would be anything that is reminescent of the concepts of love or adventure. Usually colors like white, ivory, lavender, pink, and red fall into this catagory. As well as the more cliche symbols of love; hearts and flowers, for example.

Personally, I would also include more subtle elements such as simplicity, femininity, nostalgia, whimsy, surrealism, adventure and exoticism. My creative language includes purple, black and brown among the colors of love and romance. Butterflies, modern botanicals, birds, stars and natural stone are among some of the romantic symbols that often appear in my work.

Four attributes I imagine women who wear my jewelry would have?
  • Independence
  • Non-conformist
  • Confidence
  • Avant-garde

Once again, I would like to share some of my favorite listings on Etsy that fall into the catagory of romance.

What Defines My Style? Part:1 - Modern

Happy February! I took a few weeks off of blogging but I've been hard at work. So, to start off 2011, I want to reintroduce my style of jewelry. Even though the examples are jewelry since the focus of Illumination is mainly jewelry and fashion, the same values are consistent in all of my work. So here we go...

What value defines my style? Modern aesthetic

Asymmetrical design. Focus on Texture. Contemporary color combination. Simple geometric shapes.

I love treasuries! This one was posted last night and features one of my pieces that served as the inspiration for my last entry so I thought I would share. Btw, sorry I've been such a bad blogtress, I promise to do better. :)
